Original Vintage Hans Kögl Floral Floor Lamp – Germany, 1970s
An exceptional and highly decorative original vintage floor lamp by German designer Hans Kögl, dating to approximately the 1970s.
This large sculptural lamp features an elaborate arrangement of hand-formed metal flowers, leaves and gracefully curved stems, finished in warm gold tones. The botanical composition gives the lamp an almost sculptural presence, making it as much a work of decorative art as a functional light.
Hans Kögl is particularly known for his extravagant botanical lighting designs of the 1960s and 1970s, including flower, palm, leaf and wheat-sheaf forms. His lighting has become increasingly sought after for Hollywood Regency, Mid-Century and eclectic interiors.
The impressive scale of this example makes it particularly striking. At approximately 130 cm / 51.2 in high and 98 cm / 38.6 in at its widest point, it creates a substantial focal point in a room.
The individual flowers and leaves have been shaped to create a naturalistic arrangement, while the aged gilded finish gives the piece considerable depth and character.
